The following is taken into account as the legal basis for data processing

Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR with regard to pursuing the following purposes: payment processing, identification, and extrajudicial and judicial debt collection in the event of non-payment by the patient (including via third parties)

Your data is subject to medical confidentiality. All our staff are required to respect this and to comply with the legal provisions on data protection. Some of your data will be stored on our behalf on an external server (see below)

Personal data will be processed until the purposes for which it was collected — and for which it may subsequently be reprocessed, where applicable — have been achieved. Insofar as the legislator does not specify a longer retention period, the data is deleted at that point.

Your data, when transmitted to an external server, uses current SSL encryption standards to protect your personal data against loss, destruction, manipulation and unauthorised access.

This proven cryptographic method is used worldwide as a standard for highly sensitive transactions, such as online banking and health applications over the Internet.

Some of our patients’ data is not stored within the practice itself. This concerns third-party companies, in particular the medical or dental device manufacturing laboratories we use to produce our dental devices, namely Align Tech and Odontos.

Under Articles 15 to 22 of the GDPR, you have the following rights with respect to our orthodontic practice

• The right to information, correction, deletion, restriction of processing, and data portability
• The right to object to the processing of your data where it is based on the legitimate interests of the controller or a third party, under Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR

Under Article 77 of the GDPR, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority if you believe that the processing of your personal data is not lawful.
